Arts in Tongues – multidisciplinary, dance, music and writer/spoken word artists wanted
- Deadline: 12:00pm, 28 June 2021
Are you based in Edinburgh and bilingual?
We’re looking for a multidisciplinary, dance, music and writer/spoken word artist from a diverse linguistic and cultural background to share their work with families!
Theatre Sans Accents, Starcatchers and Bilingualism Matters, present “Arts in Tongues” a pilot mini-web series of 6 short episodes (each 5-7mins) presented by Marion Geoffray and filmed by Lucas Chih-Peng Kao about the diverse communities of artists present in Edinburgh and with the specific aim to engage with families and young children through the arts, multiculturalism and multilingualism. This project is supported by the University of Edinburgh Local Community Grants scheme.
Each episode (filmed outdoors in key locations around Edinburgh) will see an artist from a different cultural and artistic background share their work and their relationship between their practice and their cultural/linguistic heritage in an accessible and playful manner.
Filming will take place between 22-24th July, each artist will only be required for a maximum 2-3 hour long session on one day and will be paid £175 for their time and contribution (meetings included). The mini web series will be published online and on social media at the end of July and throughout August and artists will be credited accordingly.
There will be further paid opportunities for some artists to engage with the project after the filming. Artists will be asked if they are interested in delivering one face-to-face working with families in August.
