Our Work

For the Early Years Workforce

Starcatchers’ Early Years Development work is designed to inspire and empower Scotland’s early years workforce, work with them to enhance their creative capacity, understand their needs and the needs of their settings, and embed expressive arts at the heart of their practice.

Creative Skills

Creative Skills is Starcatchers’ training programme for the Early Learning and Childcare workforce in Scotland. We work in partnership with Local Authorities and colleges across Scotland to deliver the Creative Skills programme across the country. Through a series of artist-led workshops, practitioners are supported to explore the positive impact that the arts can have on their practice, and on the lives of the very young children they care for.

We offer a range of training options and packages, with direct links across the Curriculum, plus resources to improve creative confidence and spark inspiration.

ELC Partnerships

Starcatchers’ ELC partnerships are developed to create a specifically designed input where the needs, challenges and interests of your team and the children in your setting inform the content. These partnerships can include a range of training options from one or two sessions using your CPD budget, or a collaborative project using our current artist-in-residence model, working together to secure funding.

Starcatchers Creativity in the Classroom

We are offering Mixed Up: the Digital Classroom Experience to all Scotland’s Local Authorities during the 2023/2024 school year. For more information scroll down to explore the pages below.

Early Years Development Projects

Our early years development work includes experiential artist-in-residence and community projects, working closely with an early years setting to interrogate specific questions and challenges around the impact of the arts on very young lives and the lives of the adults who care for them. Working closely with the setting and building on robust monitoring and evaluation processes, our Early Years Development team designs resources based on the learning from the projects.
