Playspace is Starcatchers’ artist development programme for artists committed to working with or developing work for babies and young children.
Producer Svetlana McMahon, Founder and Creative Director of Edinburgh International Magic Festival, spent the weekend at the 2Turvenhoog festival in Almere, as part of Starcatchers Artist Development programme, Playspace. Read about her festival experience:
I had the wonderful opportunity to attend 2Turvenhoog festival in Almere last weekend. Myself and artists Natalya McDonald and Sarmed Mirza watched 11 shows over 2 days. We met Artistic Director of 2Turvenhoog, Ingrid Wolff and her wonderful team, we spoke to artists and creators, met other professional delegates from Netherlands, France and Germany and spent some time with Artistic Director of Imaginate Noel Jordan too!
I have to say the atmosphere of this festival was phenomenal – so nurturing! Ingrid welcomed us with open arms and invited us to artists’ lunches and a sharing circle event with all the festival creatives and guests. She also kindly translated some shows for us and introduced us to lots of interesting people. It was a truly wonderful experience! I left with so many ideas, thoughts, notes for our existing projects and felt very inspired to create new experiences.
Starcatchers artist development programme is an invaluable resource, and I look forward to working with Starcatchers and sharing our ideas and inspirations.
