Featuring the 91 members from 37 countries around the world, The Small Size Network’s Manifesto urges Local Authorities and National Governments ‘to support performing arts for early years, to enable children to participate in the arts, to encourage and support arts organisations in public spaces and schools’.
From 29-31 January 2021, Small Size Days promote and celebrate all their members’ activities online and live, providing a platform for artistic and creative experiences for our youngest citizens. Starcatchers is delighted to be part of the celebration, as we host an artist-led conversation as part of Time to Shine UNCON 3.0.
Leading with a short video created by artists Rebecca, Matt and Geraldine with local children in Glasgow and their families, we ask: how can we measure the impact of Covid-19 on our youngest citizens when the questions are out of reach?
Small Size Days 2021
Small Size Days are back for 2021, launching a Manifesto and artistic/political actions to take forward in the Year of Childhood.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has been felt by everyone, in many different ways. Our youngest children are some of those who are most affected – babies born in 2020 who have yet to meet their grandparents, toddlers and young children who have not had the opportunity to play and to connect with their friends in nursery or school or in their communities. The impact will be long-term and theatre and the arts have a fundamental role in enabling young children to make meaning of their experiences, of their emotions and the world they are growing up in.
Reflecting the new ways we are living and working, Small Size Days 2021 are here!
Every year, Small Size Days celebrate the wonder of arts and Early Years: bringing the very youngest children, their families and their educators together. Taking place from the 29th to the 31st January 2021, it will this year offer online performances, workshops and other activities for children from 0 to 6.
With Small size members in 37 countries around the world, from Belgium to Brazil, from Singapore to Sweden the Small Size Days will be filled with joyful activities for parents and carers to share with their young children. All activities will be organised and presented digitally through the Small size Facebook page, making a wonderful and unique World Event for our youngest children.
