Creative Kin was a three-year project (2020 – 2023) bringing together artists and kinship families in North Ayrshire. We delivered free, weekly creative play sessions designed to help kids and their carers play, get creative and spend some relaxed time together.
This project built on Creative Kin 2017-19, which showed that this approach has a positive impact on the relationships between kinship carers and the children they care for.
The project was designed especially for kinship families with children aged birth-five years old. The sessions were very relaxed and inspired by the interests of the wee ones that come along, to be sure that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Children 1st North Ayrshire in awe of our wonderful friends at StarcatchersUK who reached out to & connected with Kinship families & Harri their human jukebox!! Music, singing, dancing and interactive elements brought so much joy to families"
"My grandson was so comfortable with the people here and set up here, that that he really, really came on in leaps and bounds and we have to thank the Starcatchers group and the setting for doing that, I mean, it really made a difference to him"
