Creative Kin is a three-year project (2020 – 2023) bringing together artists and kinship families in North Ayrshire. We deliver creative sessions for young children and their kinship families, creating magical, joyful and energising experiences through art and imaginative play.
This Summer, we have an exciting programme of activities for our Family Summer Fun Days. These sessions are free for Kinship carers and their families, and will take place on the 15th, 22nd, 29thJuly and 5thand 12thAugust.
Last year, Creative Kin hosted the very first outdoor event for kinship families in North Ayrshire, full of fun and wonder for under 5s and all the family! We made our own pizza, created DIY superhero capes and masks, went down the rabbit hole for a Creative Kin in Wonderland adventure, and a BBQ on the beach with live music. Thank you to all the families who came along and enjoyed games and creative play!
This project builds on Creative Kin 2017-19, which showed that this approach has a positive impact on the relationships between kinship carers and the children they care for.
Creative Kin is delivered in partnership with Children 1st and North Ayrshire Council, funded by The National Lottery Improving Lives, The RS Macdonald Charitable Trust, and Scottish Power Foundation.
