For the second episode of our podcast, we were joined by Pearl Kinnear, Glasgow-based visual artist. She spoke to us about community Lego art, concrete gingerbread men, and shared some visual arts ideas to try in your setting.

  • Light Painting

    Remember writing your name in the air with a sparkler? Same idea! Download a light painting app for your phone (or set a digital SLR camera to have a long exposure) then play around with torches, glow sticks - whatever you have.

  • Action Painting

    Combine visual art with moving your whole body! Rolls of paper taped together, tarpaulins or old bedsheets can make a large "canvas" - then throw, blow, clap or sprinkle powder paint (or coloured cornflour) as you dance, twirl, jump etc.

  • Seed Bomb Tacos

    Air drying clay filled with soil and seeds makes great seed bombs. Layer, then fold over to make a “taco”. Use papier-mâché (or eco-friendly paste and tissue paper) to make colourful art between slabs, in cracks in walls or in trees.
