2015/16
A pilot project looking at playful ways to explore language and support language development with children aged 2-3 using stories and storytelling.
Having worked on the Creative Skills Programme, Storyteller Andy Cannon was inspired to work with Early Years practitioners striving to ensure their nurseries were becoming more creative environments. Following on from that, Andy delivered a pilot project looking at playful ways to explore language and support language development with children aged 2-3 using stories and storytelling.
The project took place in two nursery settings in Dundee: Den’s Road Nursery and St Pius Nursery.
Having Starcatchers visiting our nursery has been a fantastic experience. The children and staff have gained additional knowledge and experiences. The children are actively engaged during the story telling through the props, music and movement opportunities that Andy provides. The children love to revisit the story and are always asking for Andy. This has certainly been a positive and insightful experience for all children and staff.
