Wee Inspirations

Twinkle Twinkle Little One

  1. The Basic Idea

Change the words of a song you know to share your own story together, your wee one will love hearing you sing to them.

  2. Over To You, Wee One

For wee ones who are babbling, let them add their own verses to the song, and sing their babbles back to them. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it doesn’t even have to be words: it’s all about the to and fro. You can use a drum instead: respond to the beats they tap out by copying them.

  3. Cheeky Bonuses

    • Language development
    • Singing proven to reduce stress
    • Emotional literacy
    • Helps develop positive sense of self
    • Reminds YOU how far you’ve come and how great your wee one is
  4. Variations

    •  Can you tell the story using instruments or without any words at all? You can also tell the story by making sounds, blowing raspberries or shaking rice in a bottle, your wee one will love to join in and add to the story.
  5. And Remember...

It doesn’t need to be perfect; you don’t need to sound like and move like Beyonce, and it doesn’t matter if things don’t go quite according to plan! It’s the process of creating and having fun together that is the most important.
