My 10 months old son was captivated! Music beautiful and Yarla is such a lovely warm character.

Yarla lives in the woods. It is Winter time, and so he is listening.

He can hear the wind in the trees, the birds in the sky, and the cracks and crunches of the woodland floor. But Yarla is only listening to the sounds of the sticks… and they are calling to him.

Follow Yarla on a magical woodland journey that will arouse the senses. Filled with music, song and animation, Yarla and the Winter Wood is a multi-sensory story for 6 months – 3 years, that children and adults alike will find enchanting.

Yarla and the Winter Woods was created as part of the Playground Residency Project in 2013, developed from artist Jen Edgar’s time in residency at Glenlee and Calderside Nurseries, South Lanarkshire.

The Playground, saw two artists embedded in two communities in Scotland, Barrhead in East Renfrewshire and Hamilton in South Lanarkshire. In partnership with Renfrewshire Council and South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, Jen Edgar and Nik Paget-Tomlinson were selected to work in these communities, engaging with very young children in nurseries and community centres to explore, play and create experiences for this age range and their carers. To conclude the project, both artists produced a performance.
