Laaaunch! gets ready to blast off for Starcatchers’ second national tour of 2025

3 September 2025

Starcatchers is thrilled to announce their second national tour of 2025, presenting Laaaunch!, an innovative theatre experience for babies up to 12 months old and their grown-ups. This captivating production, co-created with Dirliebane Theatre Company, embarks on a nationwide journey across Scotland from September to November 2025, supported by Creative Scotland’s Touring Fund.

Laaaunch! is a unique, non-verbal performance that invites babies to explore a comfortable, interactive set filled with musical beats, comedy, and sensory delights. Designed for babies who are beginning to roll, stretch, sit up, and stand, the show features stellar adventurers Dot, Dash, and Minim, guiding the tiniest audience members through a galactic journey of physical exploration and joy.

Jennifer Phillips, Starcatchers’ Co-Chief Executive said:

Remounting Laaaunch! is a very exciting moment for Starcatchers. It is such a joy to bring another production created especially for babies and their grown-ups to audiences across Scotland in the same year – it shows just how vital these early creative experiences are. This is also the first show myself and Heather Armstrong have had the privilege of touring as Co-Chief Executives of Starcatchers, and we are thrilled that it’s Laaaunch! – a production full of playfulness, connection and wonder.”

Laaaunch! creators Fiona Ferrier and Rachel Colles said:

“Creating Laaaunch! with Starcatchers has been very exciting. We’ve developed the show over the last three years and met countless babies who were all part of the journey in creating the production we are touring in the next few months. Everything in the show is influenced by the babies, and the outcome is a unique theatrical experience that is tailored specifically for them.”

The production is thoughtfully crafted to engage babies in their own time and way, ensuring a rich, individual experience. Audience members have praised the performance for its gentle stimulation and attentive care, noting the personalised interactions and sensory-rich environment.
