Wee Inspirations

Some Wee Inspirations from Series 1...

  • Light Painting

    Remember writing your name in the air with a sparkler? Same idea! Download a light painting app for your phone (or set a digital SLR camera to have a long exposure) then play around with torches, glow sticks - whatever you have.

  • Adventure Walks

    Go outside... on a mission! Is there someone who needs help? Or something you need to find? It can sparked by "clues" in your surroundings, based off of their favourite toys/stories, or whatever randomly pops into someone's head.

  • Give Me a Sound

    Ask your wee one for a sound, then copy their noise and turn it into a funny voice. The voice can be used for a character during imaginative play, or to bring a new dimension to well loved stories – maybe Rapunzel can be narrated by a cat!

  • Bunny’s Eye View

    When wee ones use cameras, we get to see their perspective of the world and they can show us details and views we might normally miss!

  • Sock Puppet Faces

    Make a basic sock puppet by putting double-sided tape on the back of some shapes/objects to make eyes, eyebrows and any other features you fancy.

  • Dance Dance Evolution

    Think up animals that move in different ways - curl up and stretch like starfish, slither like sea snakes, wriggle like tadpoles, hop like frogs and scamper like lizards. Choosing a theme can help spark imaginations, like ocean or jungle.

  • Musical Chats

    When we learn to speak, we're learning a lot of musical skills - and vice versa! When we engage in a musical call and response or conversation - even if it's nonsense - we're teaching babies how language and speech works.

  • Rhythm Art

    Grab some big paper and some objects you don't mind getting painty - sticks, blocks, tubs etc and start tapping a tempo or rhythm. Add squirts of paint to see what patterns emerge as you play.
